Based on our nominations predictions, here’s how we did.
Let’s start out with this year’s winner, Thomas La Tourrette, who managed 97 correct predictions out of 120. Pete Patrick came in second with 86 with Wesley Lovell following closely with 85.
We agreed on a lot of predictions, but there were still several nominations that we couldn’t foresee. Here they are:
Actor – Sebastian Stan – The Apprentice
Supporting Actor – Jeremy Strong – The Apprentice
Original Song – Never Too Late
Original Score – Wicked
Film Editing – Wicked
Cinematography – Maria
Sound – The Wild Robot
Visual Effects: Alien: Romulus
Documentary Feature – Porcelain War
Documentary Short Subject – Incident
Animated Short Film – In the Shadow of the Cypress
Animated Short Film – Magic Candies
Live Action Short Film – I’m Not a Robot
Live Action Short Film – The Last Ranger
Now for the plaudits for extra foresight. Wesley was the only person to predict “Like a Bird” in Original Song and A Lien in Live Action Short Film. Pete was alone in predicting James Mangold in Directing, Monica Barbaro in Supporting Actress, and The Only Girl in the Orchestra in Documentary Short Subject. Thomas had several sole predictions: Nickel Boys in Best Picture, Fernanda Torres in Actress, The Brutalist in editing, Flow in International Feature, Black Box Diaries in Documentary Feature, I Am Read,y Warden” in Documentary Short Subject, Beautiful Men in Animated Short Film, and Yuck! in Animated Short Film.
And our final round of congratulations go to the following for correctly predicting every nominee in various categories.
Wesley, Pete, and Thomas for predicting Animated Feature, Adapted Screenplay, and Production Design exactly. Pete and Thomas get credit for prediction Supporting Actress and Original Screenplay. And Thomas alone got Actress and Makeup & Hairstyling.
And there we have this year’s nominations predictions successes and failures. Now, it’s all downhill from here to the Oscars in March. Enjoy the festivities.
