With many precursors announced (only one industry one, the editors) and the shortlists recently revealed, these are closing in on our final predictions. Please note that due to time constraints with the shortlists releasing yesterday afternoon, the precursors and changes pages of the website have not been updated but may be completed later today. For now, enjoy our predictions.

Introductions
Wesley Lovell: The critics’ prizes are giving us a preview of what may play well with the Academy but there are still many question marks. We also have the shortlists, so this is my first full list of nominations for the year. Wicked really picked up steam with its box office victory and the strong reviews while Blitz and Gladiator II faded into near-obscurity. Quite a few changes this go around with lots of new potential nominees added and quite a few hopeless prospects removed.
Pete Patrick: As the precursors continue to announce their choices, things are starting to become clear.
Thomas LaTourette: The Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Award nominations clear up some knotty issues but also muddy the water too. That and yesterday’s release of the Oscar short lists at least narrow the gaps some, but there are not a lot of front runners in many categories. Several nominations feel set with surprisingly little movement from last month’s predictions. Wicked looks to be a major player now, but some doubt still remains over whether director Jon M. Chu will get a directing nomination. If he does not, will that hamper the chances of the film winning best picture? Emilia Pérez, Conclave, The Brutalist, and Anora are primed to score multiple nominations, starting with best picture, director, and at least one acting nom. Dune: Part Two should do well in the technical categories in addition to a best picture nomination. A Complete Unknown may have waited too long to release which may hurt its chances for more than a couple of acting noms, though it might surprise with some across the board love. With a month to go, there is plenty of time for things to change. Emilia Pérez wowed with a record number of Golden Globe nominations and also did well with the Academy short list, but will it be able to capitalize on that? The Substance got a lot of love from the Globes and perhaps that could lead to a surprise nomination for Demi Moore. With awards from GG and CC occurring before the nominations happen for the Oscars could sway some races. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next few weeks.
