The big surprise is El Conde, which was seldom mentioned as a possibility, but consider it’s Edward Lachman and it’s in black-and-white, it seems kind of like a no-brainer now. That said, it isn’t something too likely to carry over to the Oscars. Barbie is the clear loser here, but its cinematographer, Rodrigo Prieto, was nominated just for a different film. That may have had an impact.
