I always find it interesting when the “best film of the year” doesn’t win corresponding awards for “best British/Irish film” or “best foreign language film” when also nominated. It makes it seem like it’s not the actual best film of the year but that others are better than it they just want to make a statement. Pretty much nothing interesting to see here in spite of the deviations it takes from every other organization out there it seems.
