A Very surprising set of winners, ones that might have thrown us off if they’d happened during Oscar season. However, I suspect that since the original awards were supposed to take place before the collapse of Emilia Pérez, that voting had already been concluded. That could explain why Emilia Pérez won. That said, I can’t imagine why Wicked would have taken comedy/musical other than the feeling that neither Anora nor Challengers is a traditional comedy. Regardless, the final award set for 2024 is out and we can finally but the 97th Oscars year to rest.
