Conclave, Emilia Pérez, and The Brutalist performed well, as did Anora but two tech heavyweights, Dune: Part Two and Wicked, were left out of the to spot in favor of the late-surging A Complete Unknown. British picture Kneecap also performed well.

Some major snubs include Nickel Boys almost everywhere (not surprising considering the dearth of longlist placements); The Substance in general and Margaret Qualley in specific; Memoir of a Snail is the odd-man out of Animated Feature; Denis Villeneuve was nominated for directing but wasn’t in for Best Film, which is a strange inverse of the traditional lone director slot; Daniel Craig misses for Queer; Denzel Washington failed once again to get a BAFTA nod for Gladiator II while Jeremy Strong picks up surprising support; Monica Barbaro, Danielle Deadwyler, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor fail to score in Supporting Actress, a shockingly stacked list; and Challengers didn’t make the Original Score cut, and was otherwise completely cut out. That’s the major things I noticed but other things may present themselves at a later date.
