Not only is it rare to get more than 3 nominations, we might have a record for number of nominations from a single movie soundtrack with four nominations alone in the song category. This is also the most current-year-centric the Grammy nominations have been in some time with only four titles from 2022 (three of those being for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and only one title from TV. It looks like Barbie has a strong chance for three wins over Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, especially with “What Was I Made For?” is up for Record and Song of the Year, two of the year’s top Grammy categories. The film’s soundtrack album garnered eleven total nominations, which is a staggering number. What’s most surprising is that it had a second Song of the Year nominee in “Dance the Night,” but failed to get into the Album of the Year category, a strange oversight.
