New York’s Film Critics have an uneven record with Oscar. Many of their selections get nominations but few of them actually win. This is good news for The Brutalist, Nickel Boys, Hard Truths, and A Real Pain. Carol Kane seems like the kind of NYFCC pick that goes nowhere but stranger things have happened for the veteran actor. We’ll see how the rest of the season goes and if one film or another starts dominating.
