UK critics don’t nominate in all the standard categories and they certainly don’t follow American release windows. That’s why you see a few 2023 Oscar contenders on the list (The Zone of Truth, The Iron Claw, and The Holdovers. The rest are 2024 contenders and while they definitely aren’t following the herd, it’s clear they haven’t seen some of the frontrunners (like The Brutalist).
