77th Writers Guild Nominations

Notorious for their exclusions, it’s always interesting to see what is not nominated because it wasn’t eligible and what was not nominated because no one liked it.

First, let’s get the ineligible titles out of the way: The Brutalist, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, Hard Truths, Sing Sing, The Substance, The Wild Robot, September 5, A Different Man, All We Imagine as Light, I’m Still Here, His Three Daughters, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, The Room Next Door, Inside Out 2, andThe Outrun.

What’s left? In Original Screenplay, Blitz, and Saturday Night were notable omissions. For Adapted Screenplay, Nosferatu and The Piano Lesson were the biggest snubs. Take out Civil War and My Old Ass in Original and Hit Man and Wicked in Adapted Screenplay and then fill in with other selections and you might have the final list. That said, Challengers and Dune: Part Two are also weak and could very well miss out as well.
