This is the last major festival before the Oscars and its winners have often presaged Oscar attention, though last year’s winner was held back to this summer and managed to flop so we’ll see how this year’s selections do. Hamnet looks to be in the strongest position while Frankenstein shows it’s not just an average horror adaptation.
