38th European Film Awards Nominations

The short film nominations were announced October 31. The craft selections will be announced on November 26. The awards will be January 17. A few Oscar contenders are listed here, including the most nominated Sentimental Value. The European Film Awards are not highly indicative of Oscar potential but Best International Feature submissions nominated here likely have a stronger chance at Oscar consideration than they did before the nominations. The nominees for Animated Feature and Documentary Feature are automatically added to the Best Picture slate, so remove those and you’ll see It Was Just an Accident, Sentimental Value, Siråt, Sound of Falling, and The Voice of Hind Rajab as the ostensible Best Picture nominees in the traditional sense and, other than Sound of Falling, they all seem like strong contenders to earn nominations outside Best International Feature at the Oscars.
