Until now, you might have thought the competition was between KPop Demon Hunters and Zootopia 2 but with the Annie Awards, the most nominations is key to winning and it looks like Elio showed up everywhere in a bit of a surprise move. Meanwhile, most of the main Oscar contenders for Animated Feature are here with The Bad Guys 2 pulling in a respectable number of nominations. What’s also strange is that Little Amélie is in the main category and not independent where it surely would have won. There, it’s going to be between Arco and A Magnificent Life, which has been underperforming all season but should not be entirely counted out considering the Academy’s history with that director’s films.
