Based on our nominations predictions, here’s how we did.
Let’s start out with this year’s winner, Wesley Lovell, who managed 96 correct predictions out of 125. Thomas La Tourrette came in second with 92 with Pete Patrick following closely with 91.
We agreed on a lot of predictions, but there were still several nominations that we couldn’t foresee. Here they are:

Original Screenplay – Blue Moon
Casting – The Secret Agent
Original Song – Sweet Dreams of Joy
Original Score – Bugonia

Now for the plaudits for extra foresight. Wesley had a fortuitous morning being the only one to correctly predict seven nominations that no one else got: Josh Safdie in Directing, The Ugly Stepsister in Makeup, Frankenstein and Sirât in Sound, The Lost Bus and Sinners in Visual Effects, and Come See Me in the Good Light in Documentary Feature.
Pete foresaw five: Sentimental Value in Editing, Mr. Nobody Against Putin in Documentary Feature, Retirement Plan and The Three Sisters in Animated Short, and The Singers in Live Action Short.
Thomas picked three that no one else did: The Voice of Hind Rajab in International Feature, Armed Only with a Camera in Documentary Short, and A Friend of Dorothy in Live Action Short.
And our final round of congratulations go to the following for correctly predicting every nominee in various categories.
For Wesley it was six: Animated Feature, Directing, Actor, Actress, Adapted Screenplay, Sound
For Pete it was two: Animated Feature, Actor
For Thomas it was four: Animated Feature, Actor, Adapted Screenplay, International Feature
And there we have this year’s nominations predictions successes and failures. Now, it’s all downhill from here to the Oscars in March. Enjoy the festivities.
