The Creator, Elemental, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse were the most cited films this year, which is good news for the three of those who were on the Academy’s shortlist (Elemental wasn’t on it). Two shortlisters didn’t even make the list, Poor Things and Rebel Moon – Part One: Child of Fire. Of the remaining five films, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Napoleon, and Society of the Snow were the only titles with more than once citation. The surprising dearth of recognition for Godzilla Minus One is surprising. There are only five titles in the top two categories that are on the Academy’s shortlist, so those could be our nominees if Godzilla Minus One were one of them and it’s not.
