Based on our nominations predictions, here’s how we did.

Let’s start out with this year’s winner, Thomas La Tourrette, who managed 88 correct predictions out of 120. Wesley Lovell followed closely with 87. Pete came in third with 77 and Tripp, who didn’t predict 5 categories since he called it a day prior to the final deadline, got 60.

We agreed on a lot of predictions, but there were still several nominations that we couldn’t foresee. Here they are:

Actress – Annette Bening – Nyad
Supporting Actress – America Ferrera – Barbie
Adapted Screenplay – The Zone of Interest
Original Song – Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People) – Killers of the Flower Moon
Original Score – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Production Design – Napoleon
Costume Design – Oppenheimer
Sound – The Creator
Sound – Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
Visual Effects – Napoleon
International Feature – Io Capitano
Documentary Feature – Bobi Wine: The People’s President
Documentary Feature – The Eternal Memory
Documentary Feature – To Kill a Tiger
Documentary Short – Islands In Between
Documentary Short – Nai Nai & Wai Po
Animated Short – Our Uniform
Animated Short – Pachyderme
Live Action Short – Knight of Fortune

Now for the ones all four of us declared would be nominated, but weren’t:

Adapted Screenplay – Killers of the Flower Moon

Only one, which is rather impressive.

Now for the plaudits for extra foresight. Wesley was the only person to predict Robot Dreams in Best Animated Feature. Thomas was the only one to predict Jonathan Glazer for directing. Wesley was the only person to predict Sterling K. Brown for Supporting Actor. Pete gets credit for being the only one to forecast American Fiction in Original Score. Wesley also gets points for predicting Anatomy of a Fall in Film Editing. He also solo predicted El Conde in Cinematography. Wesley again was the sole selector of Napoleon in Costume Design. Wesley picked Society of the Snow for Makeup & Hairstyling. Wesley gets credit too for Perfect Days in International Feature. Thomas picked Four Daughters in Documentary Feature and The Barber of Little Rock in Documentary Short. Pete was the single person to get Ninety-Five Senses in Animated Short Film. Wesley rounds out the list with selections of Invincible and Red, White and Blue in Live Action Short Film.

And our final round of congratulations go to the following for correctly predicting every nominee in various categories.

Wesley and Thomas got Best Picture 10 for 10. Wesley and Thomas again forecast Best Actor. Wesley, Pete, and Thomas all got Original Screenplay. Wesley forecast Cinematography and Makeup & Hairstyling. And that’s everyone who got a full category’s worth of nominations correct.

And there we have this year’s nominations predictions successes and failures. Now, it’s all downhill from here to the Oscars in March. Enjoy the festivities.
