Wesley Lovell: With the win at BAFTA, The Brutalist moves into the pole position. When I first heard the score, I was certain it would win but then Challengers dominated the precursors suggesting it wasn’t strong enough but with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross out of the competition, it appears to be moving ahead. I wouldn’t count out any of these others, especially Emilia Pérez and The Wild Robot but it seems that tides of shifted once again.
Pete Patrick: I see this as a race between The Brutalist and Conclave. My pick would be Conclave but considering that BAFTA went to The Brutalist, that probably has the edge now.
Thomas La Tourrette: The lyrical work from The Brutalist should win this award. It was the one score that really fits its movie without being overbearing, unlike the non-nominated Nosferatu. Conclave and The Wild Robot also had scores that suited them, but The Brutalist felt the strongest. I do not remember what parts the scores of Emilia Pérez and Wicked were different than the songs, especially Wicked which seemed to rely heavily on the tunes from the songs. Either Conclave or The Wild Robot would be decent winners, but I expect this to go to The Brutalist.
