Wesley Lovell: Are there enough budding/failed archiects in this group to give The Brutalist the win? I’m going to guess more so than at the Oscars. That said, the more traditional period Nosferatu also has a decent shot, as does Gladiator II and, surprisingly, Saturday Night since many of these members probably came from a theater background or work in television where such a set is familiar.
Pete Patrick: The Brutalist is quite impressive, but A Complete Unknown has “I was there” design that’s hard to shake.  It could be either.
Thomas La Tourrette: Being a film about an architect might give The Brutalist an edge at winning this, but it would not be surprising if Nosferatu or Gladiator II won.

Best Fantasy Art Direction

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Nil
Wicked WL PP TL

Wesley Lovell: This is make-or-break for Wicked. If it can’t win this, it can’t win the Oscar but since its chief Oscar competition isn’t here (namely The Brutalist and Nosferatu), it only has to overcome Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Dune: Part Two, maybe Furiosa or Alien. Really any of them.
Pete Patrick: I expect a close contest between Wicked and Dune: Part Two.  Nothing else seems likely.
Thomas La Tourrette: Wicked should easily win this.

Best Contemporary Art Direction

Wesley Lovell: With Conclave being the sole Oscar nominee in this bunch, it has to be considered the favorite. That said, the quasi-futuristic/80s mash-up of The Substance could well overcome.
Pete Patrick: Conclave should win this in a landslide with The Substance a distant second. 
Thomas La Tourrette: Conclave is the only Oscar nominee among the bunch which should help it win.

Best Animation Art Direction

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl Nil
The Wild Robot WL PP TL

Wesley Lovell: This group is far more likely to recognize the artistic palette of Flow in lieu of more traditional The Wild Robot. That said, the first images of The Wild Robot were a gorgeous, painterly quality so it could still walk away with this.
Pete Patrick: This will be close between Flow and The Wild Robot.  I suspect the artier Flow will win but it could really be either.
Thomas La Tourrette: This feels like it is between The Wild Robot and Flow. I will give the edge to Flow for the scenery and buildings they float by but could easily see The Wild Robot winning.
