Runner-Up Predictions:
Wesley Lovell Pete Patrick Thomas LaTourrette
Best Sound Editing: Feature Effects / Foley
Alien: Romulus TL
Deadpool & Wolverine Nil
Dune: Part Two WL PP TL
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga WL
Nosferatu PP
September 5. Nil
Wesley Lovell: In terms of sound effects, I suspect that Dune: Part Two and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga probably have the most unique soundscapes between them and one should win.
Pete Patrick: Dune: Part Two should win this unless Nosferatu gets his teeth into it.
Thomas La Tourrette: Dune: Part Two should handily win this.
Best Sound Editing: Feature Dialogue / ADR
Alien: Romulus Nil
A Complete Unknown PP
Deadpool & Wolverine PP
Dune: Part Two WL TL
Saturday Night Nil
Wicked WL TL
Wesley Lovell: This time, it’s all about dialogue and ADR and with a musical, that could put Wicked over the top but Dune: Part Two will probably win here like it will at the Oscars.
Pete Patrick: A Complete Unknown would be my guess, but Deadpool & Wolverine seems to have large support here.
Thomas La Tourrette: This is between Wicked and Dune, and I will give the edge to Wicked, though I would not be surprised if Dune picks up the award.
Best Sound Editing: Feature Animation
Inside Out 2 WL TL
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Nil
Mufasa: The Lion King PP
The Wild Robot WL PP TL
Wesley Lovell: The Wild Robot has been on a streak and I don’t expect any of these other titles to overcome it.
Pete Patrick: The Wild Robot for sure with Mufasa a possible upset winner.
Thomas La Tourrette: With animal noises, shooting and a forest fire, The Wild Robot stands the best chance of winning.
Best Sound Editing: Feature International
Emilia Pérez WL PP TL
The Girl with the Needle Nil
The Goat Life Nil
Kneecap WL PP TL
Wesley Lovell: Kneecap and Emilia Pérez are both about the music but Kneecap has a different sound that might just be a little cacaphonic if not handled properly, giving it a slight edge.
Pete Patrick: Emilia Pérez seems most likely, but Kneecap has a huge fan base so either one is possible.
Thomas La Tourrette: One of the musicals will likely win this, with Emilia Pérez being the strongest possibility.
Best Sound Editing: Feature Documentary
The Blue Angels Nil
Dahomey Nil
Elton John: Never Too Late WL TL
Music by John Williams WL PP TL
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story PP
Will & Harper Nil
Wesley Lovell: While you could normally pick a music documentary to win this, and I do, any of these titles has a chance.
Pete Patrick: I expect Christopher Reeve biopic to take this over the latest documentary on Elton John.
Thomas La Tourrette: The Elton John documentary is likely to take this too.
Best Music Editing – Feature Motion Picture
Better Man Nil
A Complete Unknown PP TL
Deadpool & Wolverine Nil
Dune: Part Two Nil
Emilia Pérez WL
Wicked WL PP TL
Wesley Lovell: It will likely be the two musicals battling it out with Wicked topping Emilia Pérez while forgetting about the other forgotten musical, Better Man.
Pete Patrick: I would give it to A Complete Unknown, but they might prefer Wicked as either one is possible.
Thomas La Tourrette: With three musicals nominated, one of them seems likely to win. Wicked seems the most likely, with A Complete Unknown as the one that could pull an upset.
Best Music Editing – Documentary
Beatles ’64 PP
Elton John: Never Too Late WL PP TL
The Greatest Night in Pop WL
Jim Henson Idea Man Nil
Music by John Williams TL
Wesley Lovell: Whereas the main documentary category will favor archival over musical, this one will certianly favor musical with four solid possibilities.
Pete Patrick: Any of the nominees here could win but I suspect it will be either the Elton John or Beatles bio.
Thomas La Tourrette: Again, it would seem likely that one of the musical documentaries would win and Elton John would be the front runner.
