Will the WGA with its pro-union rules face headwinds when trying to predict the Oscars?

Winner Predictions:

Runner-Up Predictions:
Wesley Lovell Pete Patrick Thomas LaTourrette
Best Original Screenplay
Anora WL PP TL
Challengers Nil
Civil War Nil
My Old Ass Nil
A Real Pain WL PP TL
Wesley Lovell: The only two films that have a real shot at winning this are Anora and A Real Pain. While at the Oscars, it might be the only chance to recognize Sean Baker, here, they don’t have that limitation.
Pete Patrick: I don’t see the Writers Guild bucking the trend on awarding Anora with A Real Pain its closest rival.
Thomas La Tourrette: Anora has taken most of the precursors and should easily win this as well.
Best Adapted Screenplay
A Complete Unknown PP TL
Dune: Part Two Nil
Hit Man Nil
Nickel Boys WL PP TL
Wicked WL
Wesley Lovell: Nickel Boys is the more celebrated work (at least when Conclave is not in the competition.
Pete Patrick: I have a feeling A Complete Unknown is going to take this one by a hair over Nickel Boys.
Thomas La Tourrette: A Complete Unknown feels like it has the edge over Nickel Boys.
Documentary Screenplay
Nil
Jim Henson: Idea Man WL PP TL
Kiss the Future Nil
Martha TL
War Game WL PP
Wesley Lovell: None of these have been major contenders, so this may well be just a guess.
Pete Patrick: Just a wild guess on this one.
Thomas La Tourrette: I have not seen any of these, but the doc about Jim Henson seems like one that could have a well written screenplay.
