These nominations mostly confirm our thoughts. Super Mario Bros. looked like it wasn’t going to get a nomination at the Oscars and these nominations bare that out with the film earning a single nomination for voice acting. That’s a pretty abysmal result. Not too surprisingly, Nimona came out on top of the nominations. Netflix has been doing very well with this group lately and with Disney’s Elemental doing ok and Wish being shut out, Disney/Pixar’s ascendancy with the group was short-lived. Both Oscar contenders received solid nomination counts but missed out in key categories as well.
