For our May update, a small number of films moved on from one stage to the next. Today, we’ll look at where each film moved and look at a new ranking of each of the contenders.

Moving to Stage 2

We have one film moving into Stage 2. This means that these films have finally had all of their background information set. Just click on the links below to see their pages. What is most often missing at this stage is information on distribution, MPAA ratings, and length. Rarely, the missing information is credited individuals, such as composers, editors, and cinematographers.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (Stage 2 of 6; Pending Eligibility)

Moving to Stage 3

There are a further two films that have moved on to Stage 3. This means their theatrical releases have already closed or a contender has been released wide (none of these films).

Challengers (Stage 3 of 6; Pending Eligibility)
Civil War (Stage 3 of 6; Pending Eligibility)

Moving to Stage 4

If a film has surpassed a month in release, it is eligible for a move to Stage 4. We have three films making that change this week.

Dune: Part Two (Stage 4 of 6; Pending Eligibility)
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (Stage 4 of 6; Pending Eligibility)
Kung Fu Panda 4 (Stage 4 of 6; Pending Eligibility)

Moving to Stage 5

Stage 5 is the final stage. This means they have fully completed their box office runs. Three films have moved into Stage 5 as of this update. They are below:

Bob Marley: One Love (Stage 5 of 6; Pending Eligibility)
Hit Man (Stage 5 of 6; Pending Eligibility)
Shirley (Stage 5 of 6; Pending Eligibility)

With that, the number of films now at Stage 5 are four.

And those are the films that are moving to new stages. Now, let’s look at the top ranked films of each type of contender and how the current films rank in those areas. These are based on their current-stage scores, not their complete current score as that might enable some titles to do better than films at later stages because less is known about them.
