Wesley Lovell: With the most acclaimed film being The Perfect Neighbor, one would expect it to take all the marbles. Yet, it has lost out on several awards, most notably both PGA and BAFTA. The PGA winners isn’t nominated but the BAFTA winner is. Mr. Nobody vs. Putin has a lot of salience right now because of the unending war in Ukraine. However, the Brits were less likely to see the importance of a production like The Perfect Neighbor, but American voters are. Still, the international turn of the Academy might render that advantage moot. Right now, I think Perfect Neighbor is still on top but wouldn’t be surprised to see Mr. Nobody win.
Pete Patrick: The Perfect Neighbor is the highest profile nominee but Mr. Nobody Against Putin has won a few awards of its own so either is possible.
Thomas La Tourrette: I have not had a chance to see any of these yet, but from what I have read, The Perfect Neighbor is poised to win. The directors guild went with a film not nominated, so that was no help. Mr. Nobody Against Putin did have a surprising win at BAFTA which will help its chances at the Oscars, but I still think it will go to The Perfect Neighbor.
